About the Urban Bird Series: Encaustic Mixed Media

"I am deeply grateful to the San Francisco birds who give me a chance to be still and observe as they flit about in their bird-like ways.  I am reminded of the flourishing natural world that exists in my city - a balance that keeps me alive as an artist.  I began my current series   as I expanded my encaustic work to incorporate new styles and techniques.  My work develops into a series with a mind of their own.  Or more accurately as an obsession I become inflicted with.  This year I have found myself obsessed with birds (and trees)."    -dk haas
